Cat and Dog --Many people consider dogs smarter than cats. However, research from Japan found that cats and dogs turned out to have the same intelligence.
Time to launch, in a study involving 49 local cats in Japan, it appears that the cat is able to remember experiences that are considered impressive, one of which is their favorite food.
On the other hand, the dog was able to demonstrate the strength of the memory of what they think is unique, such as the particular momentum when they are involved in. This capability is called episodic memory.
Psychologists from Kyoto University, Saho Takagi, saying that cats and dogs alike use their memory of the past or the episodic memory to remember something.
"Episodic memory is seen as something that is connected with the introspective function in mind, and our study shows the type of consciousness exist in cats," said Takagi.
Research published in the journal Behavioural Processes was also discovered that the cat is also able to remember where the bowl that has been used for eating and that has not been touched with a lag time of 15 minutes.
In addition, the study also shows the cat is able to respond to other human movements, facial expressions, and emotion to a certain degree.
Results of the study also showed that cats have a longer memory.
"Understanding the cats can help build relationships between humans and cats so much the better," said Takagi. "Cats can be as smart as dogs, contrary to the general understanding that assesses the dog is smarter."
Laurie Santos of Yale University say experiments with such a good show cat capabilities that can be explored in science.
"This opens the door to new research how long-term memory cats can be recorded and if they can remember the episode richer in their own lives as humans do," said Santos.
